Parenting Resource: www.cpyu.org

One of the passions of our ministry is to partner with parents in raising teenagers. Since we have not yet parented teenagers, we know that you know better than us! With this understanding our goal is to point you to resources that are effective tools that can help you in parenting your child.

One of our favorites is the Center for Parent and Youth Understanding. Walt Mueller is the founder and President. He has developed a wonderful web resource that can be found online at www.cpyu.org. If you have been involved in our ministry, you have heard a lot about this site. It gives important information and resources on many subjects.

We have found the articles, research and links to be very helpful as we get in the world of teenagers. The articles discuss topics such as youth culture, parenting, faith and culture, adolescent development and many more. Under these categories there are many different topics discussed.

The research is very enlightening. Although the web site does not do movie or music reviews, it points you to places that you can find such information. It gives a wonderful guide to making music choices with your teenager. You will find top ten culture lists which include music, movies, tv shows and other interesting facts to keep you in the loop of what your student is talking about.

The site has compiled hundreds of links to different teenager related web sites. Some of the sites are developed by students for students and give true insight into what students think about certain social and spiritual topics.

Another great part of the web site is the CPYU bookshelf where book reviews are done on many of the latest books that will help you in the process of parenting. You can pick and choose which of these will be helpful to you.

This is a “can’t miss” resource for parents. It is the one stop home for tips, tools and resources that will put you further ahead in the parenting journey! I hope you will visit the site today.

Fall Parent Meeting Recap

Our desire is for students to belong to God, believe the Truth, and become who God wants them to be. Our two main avenues to push students down this path of discipleship is BFG on Sunday mornings and Collide on Wednesday nights.

New BFG Structure
We have made significant changes to our BFG structure. Now, we have 15 minutes of upbeat, fun, interactive announcements and then we send them to their BFG classes. A group of 6-8 BFG leaders take their class (grade level) and teach the lesson. Sometimes they all stay in the same group, other times they break up into small groups within their class. There will be more class socials and connection to to our ministry and bfg.

Collide
Our Wednesday nights jam! At 6:30, students crowd into the student center for an incredible night of worship.

Our Wednesday Schedule
Student Center opens 5:00pm
Collide Begins 6:30pm
Collide Ends 8:00pm
Student Center closes 8:30pm

Introducing: SPEAK
SPEAK is the creative arts ministry of BBC Students. It is made up of many different ministry teams where students can use their gifts and abilities to worship God and spread the Gospel.
